The Virtual Training Centre (VTC) of Elections Canada (EC) has a series of self-directed learning sessions to help you learn about your role.

There are two user guides available: one for EC staff and the other, for political entities. Click on the link for the one that applies to you and download it.

Below are frequently asked questions about the VTC to help you get started.

Who can use the VTC?

The VTC is available to many people involved in federal elections or other election-related activities, including:

  • Election administrators (FLO, RO, ARO, AARO, PAARO)
  • Staff at field offices of EC (most positions)
  • Poll workers (if requested by your local office)
  • Headquarters staff of EC (including the Commissioner of Canada Elections)
  • Political entities

How do I create an account?

Election Administrators

If you are an election administrator (FLO, RO, ARO, AARO, PAARO), you do not need to create an account. You will receive an email from EC with your credentials shortly after your appointment. If you have not received an email, please contact the Field Support Network.

Staff at Field Offices of Elections Canada

You will receive from your RO an information sheet, which includes an enrolment key that is specific to your position. The sheet provides all the information you need to create your account and start learning. On the homepage, click on “Enrolment keys” to start creating your account. If you have not received an information sheet, please contact your RO.

Poll Workers

Your local office may require you to complete online training for your position. If so, you will receive an information sheet from the office, with all the information you need to create an account and start your learning. On the homepage, click on “Enrolment keys” to start creating your account. If you do not have an information sheet, contact your local office.

A VTC account was created for you at the same time as was your EC network account. Ask your supervisor for a copy of the email that contains this information. If this email is not available, or if you have any other questions or issues with the site, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Political Entities

Please fill out the online enrolment form to request a VTC account. You will receive an email within one business day with instructions on how to access your account and training material.

When a person is appointed to a position with a registered political entity (e.g. a financial agent of an electoral district association or of a leadership contestant), EC will use the email address provided in the registration form to create an account for them in the VTC. The appointed person will receive an email with instructions on how to access the VTC and training material.

How do I login?

On the homepage, enter your username and password (as provided by EC or that you chose when you created your own account) then click on “Log in.”

I forgot my username/password; what do I do?

The VTC has a reset function in case you forget your credentials. On the homepage, click on “Forgotten your username or password?” and follow the instructions. If you do not receive an email within five minutes, please check your junk mail folder, as it may have been flagged by mistake.
